Provides a shelter and adoption services for displaced animals, microchipping services, and a pet food bank that people can access every 3 months. BrightSide also sells Deschutes County dog licenses at cost. This is a no-kill shelter. All animals have been spayed and neutered.

Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS) picks up injured or aggressive animals and loose livestock, issues dog and cat licenses, conducts cruelty investigations, and enforces animal control laws. Adoption services include shots, licenses, exams, and spay/neuter. Accepts stray animals from Multnomah County, and limited owner-surrendered animals as capacity allows. Provides dead animal removal of strays and wildlife from public property. Volunteer opportunities available. Donations welcome.

County agency responsible for enforcing laws and regulations, preventing crime, and investigating criminal activity; apprehending, arresting, and detaining suspects; preventing and suppressing delinquency; and engaging in other activities that protect lives and property and preserve peace in the community. Also provides animal control services, including pet licensing.

Provides veterinary health care clinics and access to a pet supply bank. Households can access the pet supply bank monthly. Maximum of two pets per household will be seen. Services include:

-Basic health exams

-Vaccines

-Flea and de-worming treatments
-Pet supplies
-Discounted animal licensing

Accepts donations of new and gently used pet supplies such as toys, cat litter, pet medication (see website for a list of accepted medication), flea prevention, vaccines (unexpired), clinic supplies, dewormer, prescription, and regular cat and dog food within one year of expiration. Food may be opened but must be in its original container.


Cannot accept: Any food past one year of expiration, CBD treats or supplements, retractable leashes, shock collars, electric collars, or prong collars.

Washington County Animal Services picks up stray dogs, cares for stray pets until their owners can be contacted, and finds homes for animals whose owners do not pick them up. Provides removal of dead cats or dogs from public property and roadways only. Investigates cruelty and neglect cases and provides community education about animal care and behavior. Also provides dog and puppy licensing services.
