Responsible for enforcing all laws and regulations; preventing crime; investigating criminal activity; apprehending, arresting, and detaining suspects; preventing and suppressing delinquency; and engaging in other activities that protect lives and property and preserve peace in the community. Has four divisions: criminal, corrections, investigations, and narcotics.

Accepts reports of non-emergency crimes and complaints and compliments about staff performance and conduct. Anonymous complaints are accepted, although options are limited for investigating complaints given anonymously.
