PROVIDENCE PORTLAND MEDICAL CENTER
DOULA SERVICES
Providence contracts with birth doulas to support families with Medicaid insurance. The program aims to advance birth equity for childbearing families by increasing access to doulas, promoting doulas as an integrated part of the birthing team, and sponsoring doula training in underrepresented communities. Patients receive two support visits before delivery, continuous in-hospital labor and delivery support, and two support visits after delivery. These services are provided by a professionally trained doula.
