Shelter space is available for up to 4-6months once accessed and may have the following amenities: private locked space to reside, meals, microwave, limited storage, showers, laundry facility, and a housing caseworker to help overcome barriers and obtain long-term housing.
Please note this is not an immediate service and access to shelter is off of a waitlist. The time before accessing shelter could be a few weeks to months and is based on availability of shelter space.
Eligibility:
-Homeless families (any combination of adults) with at least one
minor child under the age of 18 OR pregnant individuals in their
3rd trimester (28 weeks+)
-Reside in, or have ties to (work there, go to school there, children go to school there, used to live there) Multnomah County
And meeting one of the following:
-Staying in a place not meant for human habitation (car, tent, park, garage, etc.)
-Unsafely doubled up/couch surfing
-In a motel temporarily
-Exiting an institution (shelter, transitional housing, jail, hospital) where you temporarily resided for 90 days or less and were homeless prior
-At imminent risk of losing housing (must have an official eviction notice)
Families who are currently on a lease and do not have an eviction notice are not eligible.
Youth under 18 with children or pregnant are not eligible for this program.
Pets allowed. The number of pets and type of pets allowed vary by shelter. If you are offered a shelter space, the caseworker working with you will coordinate the shelter that best suits the family and their pets upon shelter placement.

24 hours per day / 7 days per week to be added to waitlist to
complete screening intake assessment
8am-6pm 7 days per week for screening intake assessment
Individual shelter hours vary but once shelter is accessed families can stay up to 4 months.

INTAKE PROCEDURE:
Call to complete a screening to be added to the family shelter
waitlist, voicemail available. Shelter access/placement is not
immediate. It is unknown when shelter space may become
available.
Family, friends, and caseworkers can add individuals needing services to the waitlist, however to complete the full waitlist intake the individual needing services will be contacted within a few days by a Homeless Services Specialist from 211 and will need to give consent to be added to the list and receive services.
Families will periodically get calls from 211info to ensure their information is up to date and shelter is still needed.
If and when shelter becomes available, families will be called and offered an intake appointment. All members of the household must be present during intake appointments.
