NO Severe Weather

Tuesday, Nov. 18 - After reviewing the forecast, we do NOT anticipate issuing a Severe Weather Notice. The low temperature predicted is 37 degrees with wind chills down to 30 degrees.

The criteria used to determine a Severe Weather Notice and the corresponding opening of Red Cross emergency shelters is:

  1. Forecasted temperature or wind chill 25°F or below.
  2. Snow accumulations of 1.0 inch or more sticking to the ground in most locations.
  3. Temperature at or below 32°F with driving rain of 1.0 inch or more overnight.

Nonetheless, weather conditions will be challenging for those who are sleeping outside. Outreach workers and emergency responders will assist in directing unsheltered people to shelters.

Anyone seeking shelter should contact 211info, reached by dialing 2-1-1. 211info will be available to identify shelter and warming center resources 24/7.
Additionally, shelter information is available at www.211info.org.

NOTE: The Family Winter Shelter has been experiencing high volume since opening.
The Women's Winter Warming Center opens today, Tuesday November 18th.
