Day of Homelessness Awareness
As the winter months are upon us, it’s easy to forget that there are many who don’t have a safe and warm place to lay their head at night – let alone the appropriate clothing. On November 15, community leaders, faith communities and the general public will march through the streets of downtown Portland for the second annual Day of Homelessness Awareness.
The walk will begin at 7am at the Downtown Chapel Roman Catholic Parish and will conclude at the 13 Salmon Family Day Center at First Unitarian Church. The three “faces” of homelessness – adults, youth and families – will be addressed by civic and spiritual leaders during the walk, and participants will hear how they can make difference.
If you wish to volunteer during the march downtown, reach out to Hands On Portland to find opportunities. If you have clothing or blankets to donate, please view the map on this page to find a convenient drop-off location.
