Volunteer Program

211info is looking for passionate, professional, committed volunteers who want a meaningful opportunity serve our community.

The economic crisis has permeated every segment of our community and calls to 2-1-1 have skyrocketed. In response to this and to the requests of concerned community members looking for ways to help, 211info developed a Volunteer Program in July 2009. In the first year of this program, 30 individuals joined 211info and provided over 4,000 hours of volunteer support!

Opportunities

Longer term volunteer/internship positions require a minimum commitment of 12 hours/week for 3-6 months:

  • Answer Calls: Help struggling members of the community and gain valuable experience answering specified calls.
  • Manage Data: Interact with area service providers and provide support for the data/resource department.
  • Administrative Support: Support the mission of 211info by providing administrative aid to the outreach, communications, and managerial team.
  • Communications: Work with our external relations team to tell the 211 story through video, social media, and other dynamic forms of communication!

Shorter-term or expisodic volunteer opportunities may also be available for those interested in various 211info projects or outreach efforts.

Requirements

Specific skill sets required vary by position, but we generally ask that volunteers are 21 or older and be experienced or interested in social service work of this nature. Most of our volunteers are longer-term "interns" affiliated with a school or employment training program.

211info is grateful for invaluable partnerships with the following programs:
