National 2-1-1 Coverage
As of April 2009, 2-1-1 serves over 240 million Americans (more than 80% of the entire population) covering all of part of 46 states (including 33 statew with 90%+ coverage) plus Washington DC and Puerto Rico. The remaining states are all in various stages of planning and implementation. Every few weeks, these coverage numbers increase.
2-1-1 has been recognized as a critical partner in providing assistance when a disaster strikes. From regional wilkfres to earthquakes, hurricanes, and acts of terrorism, 2-1-1 has been the number to call for thousands who have been affected by the disaster.
