I’ve been working for 211info for three-plus years and the most intense time of year is when emergency shelter is declared.

When sleet starts to fall or light snow drifts from the sky everyone starts to wonder if the City of Portland will declare emergency shelter so those sleeping on the streets have a place to go.

Every week we share updates about Washington Co. Severe Weather/Warming centers. Below is the listing for 11/23 - 11/29. Listing is subject to change at any time. Thanks to Annette M. Evans from the Washington County Department of Housing Services for sharing.

St. Anthony's in Tigard opened their shelter on 11/25 and will be open again on 11/26 to provide a warm place for homeless to sleep during the overnight freezing temperatures. This is an update to the Activation Schedule released last Friday.

11/19/2012 - Due to the high winds and urban flooding, St. Anthony's (Tigard) has opened their Severe Weather Shelter this evening.

11/21/2012 - Rolling Hills Community Church shelter will be open.
