According to some graduates of this 12-week series, the impact of taking this course is life changing. Taught by family members of people struggling with serious mental illness, the class covers current information about schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, co-occurring brain and addictive disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Recently on KGW, Portland Mayor Sam Adams addressed the need for an “information and referral hub for police and those families trying to find help for someone suffering from mental illness” in the wake of highly-publicized police shootings.

His solution is absolutely the right one. And Portlanders need to know an information and referral hub already exists.
