Pick out a free parenting class that suits your family | Douglas County
WHAT’S HAPPENING: Parenting information is plentiful in Douglas County this spring. It’s delivered in a variety of formats including one-night workshops and class series running anywhere from three to nine weeks. Different classes address parenting of children at specific stages of development. Class topics and dates are listed below. Click here for locations and times.
Haga de la Paternidad un Placer (Making Parenting a Pleasure)
This class, which will provide information for parents of newborns and children up to age 9, is taught in Spanish and runs from March 8 through May 17. For those who are reading this information after March 8, it may be worthwhile to see if it is possible to start this class series even if you have missed the first session. Call 541-440-4757. Understanding Teen Brain Development – March 14
Nurturing Parent for parents of newborns and children up to age 9 – April 3 to May 29
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports for parents of newborns and children up to age 10. – April 11 to May 2
Family Camp for Strengthening Families for parents and children age 10 to 14 – April 14, 21, and 28
Power of Empathy for parents of children of any age – April 20
Space for any of these classes is limited. Call Umpqua Community College at 541-440-7744 to register. Childcare is available for all classes except for the one-night workshops.
This parenting support is made available by the Douglas County Early Childhood Planning Coalition in cooperation with the Oregon Community Foundation, Mercy Foundation, Roseburg School District, United Community Action Network, Adapt Peer Power, Douglas Educational Service District and Umpqua Community College.
