Washington County

From Annette Evans:

Faces of the homeless at our faith-based shelters include ... a couple in their 70's who have been married for 57 years ... families with very young children ... homeless adults who have lived on the streets/campsites for months to years ... The Severe Weather Shelters need your support in volunteering time as overnight hosts and donations of resources/funding to serve the homeless in our community. Please contact the shelters directly to volunteer or donate resources.

Words cannot adequately express the deep appreciation we feel for these volunteers that host overnight shelter services, feed the hungry and homeless, and provide a listening ear to those who are losing hope that they will find housing and stability - but here goes - "THANK YOU SEVERE WEATHER SHELTER VOLUNTEERS!!"

You do a great job taking care of your own.and sometimes others but, the housing shortage sucks.
you have no women shelters unless they are abused, drug addicts and under 18 or was that under21? either way, people who come to work are greeted with alot of annomosity, rudeness and overall disrespect.
you have one really great place if you like the word, stay is up to six mo. (should be more than enough.)
the other is a 3day.(roughter crowd). Nobody reallly wants to not pay rent. but with options pretty no where.
and jobs even less.(some cases)..You really need a womens shelter/alternative. mmm. maybe.

Had a thought anonymous

We now have a warming station in Pendleton that is open on nights when the temperature is consistently below 32 degrees. We are now open "until further notice" since the temperature is so low.

This is fantastic news! We would love more information on this. Please contact me at your earliest convenience at ryankn @ 211info.org

Thank you for the heads up!
