One website one phone number for all free tax preparation sites statewide
CASH Oregon has partnered with 211info this year to provide one toll-free phone number to call for free tax preparation assistance programs throughout the entire state. Simply call 1-866-698-6158 and you will be provided with an agency that best fits your needs. This same information is available on the Internet. The phone service is in response to the many low-income families who do not have access to the Internet, which is true for many of the people served by these programs.
The CASH Oregon list, online and in the database used when a person calls the 866 number, provides all the details a taxpayer would need, including languages spoken at the site and whether they offer free assisted self-tax preparation (FAST). The FAST service involves the taxpayers completing their own taxes using an online program with assistance from a volunteer.
CASH Oregon is a non-profit organization committed to improving the financial health of low income Oregonians. For the 2010 tax year, free tax services helped over 55,000 taxpayers statewide. These tax returns translated into over $59,700,000 in refunds. Many of these taxpayers were living on the edge of poverty and desperately needed the refunds they earned.

The CASH Oregon page dealing with tax assistance sites is http://www.cashoregon.org/taxprep/sites.htm. Sorry for the delay in my response.
This sounds like a good idea and like it will be very helpful to a lot of people who are looking forward to doing their taxes very soon. Not that people actually look forward to it.
Tax needs seem to be at the top of everyone's mind right now who needs information and news on this issue and that could be because that is pretty much all we hear about other than the elections.
