May 16-22 Alerts: Speak Up Step Up, Project Homeless Connect | Lincoln County

By Deb Kallen, Communications Assistant

Peer pressure and being a teenager seem to go hand-in-hand. I found a really engaging website for adolescents designed to steer them in a healthy direction. Looking at the drug-free statistics among teens in Lincoln County, it seems as though families, educators, and providers (oh, and the teens) are doing everything right. Did we miss anything? E-mail us to add events and alerts.

  • Check out this fantastic interactive website for teens set up by the Lincoln Commission on Children and Families. Called speakupstepup.org, it’s all about raising awareness of the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. The website offers the names of area resources as well as an outlet to voice a feeling, an opinion, or a rant.

  • Are you homeless? Visit Project Homeless Connect. It’s designed to provide homeless individuals and their families with immediate goods and services. This one-stop shop offers limited health care, prescription assistance, immunizations, temporary employment enrollment, pet care, help with accessing energy assistance, housing assistance, and food stamps, and much more. May 19th at St. Peter The Fisherman Lutheran Church in Lincoln City.
