From Eric Belt, Veteran Services Supervisor, Disability, Aging & Veteran Services, Washington County

On behalf of Washington County Disability, Aging, and Veteran Services, WorkSource Beaverton, and the Western Washington County Employer’s Council; we invite you to participate in:

The Willow Creek Veteran Benefits and Job Fair. The event will take place Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the Willow Creek Center, 241 SW Edgeway Drive, Beaverton, OR, 97006.

Veterans are unemployed in higher-than-average numbers locally and statewide, with more than 20 percent of veterans younger than 35 without jobs. The lack of jobs puts veterans at risk of becoming homeless quicker than veterans of any other era. The Department of Veterans Affairs estimates Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who wind up homeless do so in three years, compared with 13 years for Vietnam-era veterans.

The Veterans Administration and many other governmental, community-based agencies, and employers will be in attendance to provide a host of services and information which will include health screenings, job opportunities and the chance to register with the VA for medical care and other benefits.
