Enjoy food, film, fun and football while exploring how males can empower themselves to promote healthy manhood and fatherhood.
Men, regardless of age, race, class, or sexual orientation, are invited to come together for this free event hosted by the nonprofit Squires. What can you expect?
FOOD: Free good food will be available for all.
FILM: There will be a viewing of the film "The Mask You live In", which follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America's narrow definition of masculinity.
FUN: There will be activities, photos, a men’s resource fair, pop-a-shot, and some real and honest discussion.
FOOTBALL: The event's keynote speaker is University of Oregon Hall of Famer Latin Berry. As a four-time All-American in track and field, and three-year starter in football, this 5 ‘10" two-sport Ducks Alumni knows a thing or two about the demands of masculinity. Latin then followed up his college career with four seasons in the NFL. Whether you see Latin as a father, husband or a local high school grad who made it to “The League” we can agree his “Man Card” is one that inspires everyone his life touches to do better.
UNMASKED will take place on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 8:45am to 2:30pm at the Maranatha Church (4222 NE 12th Ave., Portland, OR 97211). Register online now.
