Applications now accepted for SW Portland Head Start program

Do your friends, neighbors, relatives or clients have children between 0 and 5 years old that live on the westside of Portland? Would you like them to get a “Head Start” on school readiness by participating in a free preschool program?

Neighborhood House Head Start is free of charge to all families. Their Head Start and Early Head Start are funded by the Oregon Department of Education and Portland Children’s Levy. The program serves children ages 0-5.

For children 0-3 the program provides weekly parent/child home visits, and group socializations in an infant/toddler classroom. For children 3-5 there is a preschool program with morning and afternoon classes four days a week, Tuesday to Friday. Kids are fed breakfast and lunch in the morning and lunch and snack in the afternoon class.

Neighborhood House Head Start provides health and family services support to all enrolled families. Each family receives two educational home visits with a classroom teacher and two family services home visits with a family advocate. They have classrooms in NW and SW Portland.

Please call with any questions to 503-246-1663 ex.7307 or email lavakyan@nhweb.org. Or have a look at the enrollment flyer for more details. Spaces are limited. Enrollment is beginning for the 2015-16 school year. Children are accepted without regard to gender, race, color, national origin or religion.
