Annual caregiver conferences set for November

Two separate events for spouses, partners, and friends of older adults needing care.



"Bridging the Gaps in Caregiving", a conference focusing on those caring for older adults, takes place on Friday, Nov. 6, from 9am to 2:30pm at Tuality Health Education Center, 334 SE 8th Ave., Hillsboro, OR.

In addition to informative presentations on communication skills, legal considerations, advocacy, products and equipment, and advance care planning, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, Representative for Oregon's 1st Congressional District, will be giving a keynote titled "Honoring and Supporting Family Caregivers in Their Role."

This event, jointly sponsored by Tuality Healthcare and Washington County, is free but registration is required by calling 503-846-3089.



The 2015 Annual Caregiver Conference takes place Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8:30am to 3:30pm at PeaceHealth Southwest's Health Education Center in Vancouver.

This workshop is for spouses, partners, adult children and friends. The keynote speaker is Charlotte Akin, M.Ed., who is the author of "The Long Road Called Goodbye: Tracing the Course of Alzheimer's."  She will be speaking on characteristics of successful caregiving and the look of quality care in various long term care settings. Other topics included will be "Food for Energy and Immunity" and "The Mindful Caregiver".
